You may or may not know that Dave works for Fish and Wildlife Service. You may or may not know what that even is. While similar to the National Parks Service (many people get them confused), they focus on different aspects of our ecologically diverse country. Have you ever heard of a Wildlife Refuge? Yea, me neither. Or at least, I didn't really process what it was whenever I heard about it. Ever since Dave got this job, I've come to learn more about them, the amazing things they do, and just how many there are in the US (over 500!!). We've spent time exploring the refuge in my own "backyard" in California (San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge) and a few out here with plans to visit many more.
The purpose of this post... to get you to go out and explore the protected wildlife in your own backyard! Oh, and make sure to check out the National Parks too! Don't want to forget them. :)
Take your dog with you too! Just make sure to check out the rules before heading out.
