perfect day for a race.

Just as a warning... this post has A LOT of photos. I can't help but share though. I love this sport and all of the exciting moments that I just HAVE to share them.

Last night my dad and I went to the Oakland Coliseum (now O.Co Coliseum... I think this is pretty clever of Overstock.com to take this stadium since O (Oakland) Co (Coliseum) works perfectly in my mind) for Race 4 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. It was a perfect day for moto. Since the race occurs the last weekend of January each year, you never know what to expect whether-wise. Yesterday was perfect - the clearest skies!

The races were amazing last night. From qualifiers, to heats, to mains... I wasn't disappointed once. And don't take this statement lightly. I've definitely been to races where they just weren't too exciting. So yea, when I say it was good, it was good.

These first few photos are from the qualifiers...

Mark, James Stewart's practice mechanic, passed away last week while helping someone in need on the side of the road. A tribute was paid to him during the evening's opening ceremonies.

I secretly wish I had their job (and photography skills... and equipment). Click here to see some of their stellar shots from the night.

This was a crazy moment at the end of Supercross Heat 2... It's Bubba Stewart coming to the finish line. If you look closely, you'll see a second set of tires. That's Ryan Villopoto! You don't get closer than that... amazing!

... But Bubba won the heat.

The first few laps of the Supercross main were intense. They went around this close for quite a few laps until Bubba pulled ahead.
