Nursing: I'm starting to write my essays for nursing school. First applications are due July 1st. I really want to make sure that I say what I need to say so I'm giving myself time to edit and reedit and reedit again. I'm also hoping to volunteer at Shriner's Children's Hospital soon. They received my application so now it's just a matter of availability in the departments I'm interested in. I also want to volunteer abroad at the end of the year which leads into...
Panamá: I found this program called International Service Learning. They do public health volunteer programs for college students in Panamá among other countries. I'm planning on heading down there at the end of October to stay with Dave and would love to do this at the end of my trip. It's ten days of public clinics and house visits. Only problem is... it's almost $1600 for the ten days. If I want to do this, I have to come up with the money on my own. Cross your fingers for me!
By the way, Dave is officially with his host family. He lives with a 60 year old mother and her 32 year old daughter. He moved in yesterday and said that there are actually a lot more people at the house during the day, but at night it's just the three of them. He decided that when he goes to his actual location in July, he's going to stay on his own and not with a host family.
School: Is actually going really well. I love my classes. Spent the weekend working on a presentation about Helicobacter pylori which is the culprit in peptic ulcers. Also learning tons about Identity Theft. If you need any pointers on how to protect yourself, just ask!
Work: I absolutely love. The people are great and it's really chill. Really, it's that good that there isn't much to say. Hahah.
Life: In general is good. It's starting to get really hard not being able to talk to Dave whenever I want, but I do get to speak to him everyday. We did Skype a bunch last week, but now that he's with his family, he doesn't have constant internet access. He does, however, have a cell phone now. He uses a pre-paid phone so he doesn't have to worry about running up a crazy bill.
Almost time to go back to campus.
